In June 2005 three friends and I took an epic two-week bike trip through Kashmir and Ladakh in the Indian Himalaya. Four days into the trip my primary camera lens broke, leaving me with just a telephoto lens. A number of these pictures, therefore, are courtesy of Gabe McGann (including some that I probably forgot to credit him for). Thanks, Gabe!

We camped halfway up the Taglang La on a switchback that afforded the only flat ground for miles. In the morning I woke up with altitude sickness: vomiting and diarrhea. The road ahead was above 14,000 feet for hundreds of kilometers so I knew there would be no respite from the thin air, but staying at our campsite wasn't going to help me either, and there was certainly no turning back. So I figured there was nothing to do but to get on the bike and keep going up...
